Episode 99: EU needs to invest more in AI

Our guest in this episode of AI-podden is Jörgen Warborn, who is a member of the European Union Parliament.

Jörgen shares what happens behind the curtain regarding boosting the investments in AI within the EU, but also what happens in terms of regulations. He sees a need for a serious increase in investments in AI in order to catch up with North America and China, as Europe is lagging behind and the gap is just widening.

His point is that this is the responsibility of all organizations, not only on state level, but also in the private sector. We need to increase private investments substantially to bridge the gap with, for instance, the US and China.

He also tells us about what he thinks regarding the EU regulations. While he believes that it’s important to be cautious, the too strict regulations harm the EU’s advancement in the technology. He believes in less regulations to ensure that Europe has the same resources and prerequisites to be in the leaderboard in AI. Jörgen and Ather discuss this topic more in depth in this episode.
